Reducing waste

• 10 tonnes of plastic are produced every second worldwide

• It takes thousands of years for plastic to break down completely.
Every year, more than 8 million tonnes of plastic end up in our oceans, threatening marine life and polluting our fragile ecosystem.

• Marine animals, such as sea turtles and seabirds, ingest over 100,000 pieces of plastic every year, causing excruciating suffering and death to thousands of them.

• The production of plastic packaging requires around 17 million barrels of oil every year, contributing to the depletion of natural resources and climate change.

• Over 90% of plastic waste is not recycled, creating huge landfill sites and releasing dangerous toxins into the environment, contaminating our soil and water supplies.

• Only 9% of plastics produced are recycled, 12% are incinerated and all the rest end up in the environment.

At Colonel Gustave, we haven’t done things by halves, we’ve decided to directly remove single/quasi-single plastic from our process and that’s from our warehouse to the end consumer. Now isn’t that nice?

We work with paper bags made from compostable materials. Simply put them in the paper bin and they will find a new life.
